San Matías El Apóstol Matías fue uno de los seguidores de Jesucristo. Después de la Ascensión de Cristo fue elegido por los Apóstoles para reemplazar a Judas. Oraron al Espíritu Santo para que diera a conocer a quien destina para este ministerio, echaron suertes y salió Matías. Era importante sustituir a Judas por su deserción y para completar el número doce. Predicó los Evangelios en Judea y Etiopía, su celo atrajo el odio de los judíos que lo lapidaron y le cortaron la cabeza. La estatua fue realizada por el escultor Llorenç Matamala i Piñol.
St.Matthias The Apostle Matthias was one of the followers of Jesus Christ. After the Ascension of Christ he was choosen by the Apostles to replace Judas. They prayed to the Holy Spirit that he should demonstrate who intended for this ministry, cast lots and out Matias. It was important to replace Judas by his defection and to complete the number twelve. Matthias preached the Gospel in Judea and Ethiopia, their zeal attracted the hatred of the jews who stoned him and cut his head. The statue was performed by the sculptor Llorenç Matamala i Piñol. |
