San Pedro Nolasco Pedro Nolasco (1180 - 1256). En la noche del 1 al 2 de agosto de 1218 se le apareció la Virgen pidiéndole que fundara una orden que se dedicara a la redención de los cautivos. Fundó entonces la Orden de Nuestra Señora de la Merced el 10 de agosto de 1218, que, con el consentimiento de Jaime I de Aragón, quedó establecida. Tuvo la satisfacción de verla aprobada provisionalmente por el Papa Honorio III en 1225, y por Gregorio IX en 1230. Fue canonizado por Urbano VIII en 1628. La estatua fue modelada y realizada por el escultor Domènec Fita.
