San José de Calasanz San José de Calasanz, sacerdote y santo español (Peralta de la Sal, Huesca, 1557 - Roma, el 25 de agosto de 1648). Fue fundador de la Orden de las Escuelas Pías, el primero en evangelizar en «la Piedad y Las Letras» a todos los niños pobres y ricos, fue el primer hombre en crear un sistema educativo gratuito del mundo a cualquier niño de cualquier clase social y de cualquier culto religioso, siguiendo a Dios al escuchar la voz del Señor: «José, entrégate a los pobres. Enseña a estos niños y cuida de ellos». La estatua fue modelada y realizada por Núria Tortras y Manuel Cusachs i Xivillé.
