Pilato Figura desconcertada y confusa del gobernador y juez romano que intentaba liberar a Jesús y cuyos intentos fueron todos fallidos. A las preguntas de Pilato, Jesús contestaba con el silencio. Pilato dijo a los sumos sacerdotes y a la gente: «Ningún delito encuentro en este hombre». Pero ellos insistían diciendo: «Solivianta al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, desde Galilea, donde comenzó, hasta aquí».
